If you are young between the age of 18-19 years, you must fulfill the following requirements and attach relevant documentation:

You must have at least 8 years of uninterrupted legal residence in Denmark

Documentation for passing Danish language test 2 (e.g. certificate for 9th or 10th grade)

Documentation for completion of 9th grade (e.g. leaving certificate)

You must not have committed certain types of crime.

You must not have overdue debt to the public sector.

You must not have received certain types of social benefits in the past 4 years prior to the time of your application
Documentation for continuous education or work:

Continuous education: e.g. in the form of confirmation from educational institutions, etc., from which it appears when you started your education, whether you are still active in the education and when you have finished the education.

Continuous work: you must document that you have been in ordinary full-time employment without taking a break since you finished the 9th grade.

Basic requirements:

You must have at least 8 years of uninterrupted legal residence in Denmark. If you meet all 4 additional conditions, you can get permanent residence if you have had at least 4 years of uninterrupted legal residence​

You must not have committed certain types of crime.

You must be in active employment at the time of the decision. You must submit your current employment contract. If you are on maternity leave or otherwise, you must submit confirmation of your employment from your employer.

You must have passed the Danish language test 2 or 9th grade leaving certificate where you have passed your danish language exams.

​You must have been in work for at least 3 years and 6 months within the last 4 years. You must send employment contract(s) and possibly previous employment contracts within the past 4 years.

Supplementary requirements:

You must have passed the Danish language test 3. You must send documentation for the Danish language test 3 or the 9th/10th grade leaving certificate, etc.

You must have been in work for at least 4 years within the last 4 years and 6 months. You must send an employment contract and possibly previous employment contracts within the past 4 years.

You must have had an average annual income above a certain amount. You must send your payslips and annual statements within the last 3.5 to 4 years.

You must send proof of passing the citizenship test or documentation of active citizenship, e.g. in the form of a statement from a board or organization for which you have worked/volunteered.

Other things:

Documentation for any stay abroad in connection with work. An employment contract and previous contracts must be submitted.

Full copy of your passport - including front and back cover. A valid passport is required for all applicants.

​Documentation for housing. You must send the documentation in the form of a lease or purchase contract (for real estate)
